The Elements

Polyatomic Ions
see below

Do not just print these and stare at them. Start with a learning technique -
Write them out yourself! Then a second technique - Make flash cards. Third -
Use them! You need these in long-term memory. You need to KNOW the
symbol and correct spelling of the name. Quizzes start the day after
Atomic Structure Test #1 and continue approximately every other day.

Quizzes 1-3: 10 names and 10 symbols.
Quiz #4: You write all 50 symbols.
Quiz #5: You write all 50 names
Quiz #6-? The most-missed names & symbols

We will have quizzes until
over 90% of my students
(all classes combined)
score over 90%.

The records are: _ Fewest quizzes = 6 _ Most quizzes = 13.

NOTE: Standard Roman Alphabet Characters are required. Creativity is not appropriate here.

Why these four lists?

.

You do not need to know the Latin names, but they may provide associations useful in memorization

Polyatomic Ions (Radicals)

Memorize the charges, too. Quizzes will begin after the Periodic Table Test.
